Reading Rockets delivered an outstanding performance as they secured a commanding 112–71 victory over the Newcastle Knights in their latest British Championship Basketball fixture.
From the outset, Reading imposed their tempo on the game, storming into an early lead with a high-intensity first quarter. Their offensive execution was sharp, combining quick ball movement with confident perimeter shooting to establish a 37–16 advantage. This momentum carried into the second quarter, where the Rockets continued to stretch the floor effectively and capitalise on scoring opportunities, heading into halftime with a dominant 67–37 lead.
Reading maintained control throughout the second half, showing composure and consistency on both ends of the court. Their ability to convert from long range proved decisive, alongside efficient scoring in the paint. Even as the game progressed, the Rockets showed no signs of slowing down, managing the tempo well and maintaining their high shooting standards to close out an emphatic win.
The standout player was without a doubt Jax Bouknight (4). The point guard who was awarded BCB player of the month for January made 5 three pointers and ended with a team high 22 points while also grabbing 5 assists. Victor Olarerin (8) was another of Reading’s in form players as he came out of the blocks fast scoring 9 points in the first two minutes of the game.
The Reading Rockets secured an impressive 91–83 victory over the City of Birmingham Rockets in a competitive contest that unfolded in contrasting halves. Birmingham started strongly, taking the first quarter 25–15 and extending their lead slightly in the second period, outscoring Reading 16–14. This gave the home side a 41–29 halftime advantage, putting Reading under pressure after a slow offensive start.
The second half saw a complete turnaround from Reading. They responded with far greater intensity in the third quarter, winning it 32–17 to overturn the deficit and take control of the game. Carrying that momentum into the final period, Reading edged the fourth quarter 30–25, sealing the comeback and completing a strong second-half performance.
This game was headlined by an outstanding performance from Malik Bryant (10) who led Reading in points, assists and rebounds having a statline of 21pts, 8ast, 7reb. Saturday’s blowout and Sunday’s comeback win sees Reading go top of the BCB table with 3 games to go. This weekend was extremely significant for Reading a its seen them win against both of their title rivals putting them in an extremely strong position for the remainder of the season
